Conserve, Preserve, Restore
We have teamed up with the World Surf League (WSL) and their partner non-profit One Ocean over the past couple of years on custom shirts for their events.
Recently, surrounding the WSL surf competitions on the North Shore of Oahu, they hosted a restoration project alongside the North Shore Community Land Trust to restore nearby wetlands. Professional surfers John John Florence, Sawyer Lindblad (see below) and other volunteers gathered to remove invasive species and plant native varietals that will ensure the long-term health of this ecosystem.
Groups tied closely to the land and the ocean understand more than most about the importance of how their products are made, as well as the materials that go into their creation. A holistic perspective of our environment recognizes the interconnectedness all of these factors play into health of our planet. Poorly done production of apparel — which unfortunately seems to be the norm in our industry — sees waterways contaminated, excessive water usage, and harmful chemicals sprayed in abundance.
GOTS Certified Organic Cotton and fair labor practices through Fair Trade Certification ensure the most environmental and human-friendly methods are used to make each one of our t-shirts. These are the values that non-profit groups like One Ocean stand for and that help them ensure the clothing and marketing means are furthering their mission, not working in opposition to it.
